PET OWNERSHIP WITH A DIFFERENCE

In Malaysia, pet owners play a very important role in the welfare of companion animals and try their best to provide an excellent environment, good healthcare and a preventive program for them, so as to keep them satisfied and happy. This in turn makes pet ownership a very fulfilling one for all owners and pets in general.

By making sure pets receive the extra care and attention, we are indirectly forging unique relationships with them and soon after these animals will be moulded to become loving household pets/companions, thereby serving us in the many different ways they had been trained to do, such as police or guard dogs, a family dog for the children to romp with, or maybe even a guide and rescue dog. Luckily for pets, more and more pet owners nowadays are looking at them from a different perspective since their pets depend on them for their very survival.

When looking for a pet food for your puppy, it is advisable to read the labels whilst healthcare and hygiene should not be ignored either. So, for those new pet owners out there, this is certainly the best time to find out what's in store for your pets in this age of advanced science and technology.

How does a premium brand of pet food help your pet?

When you feed a high quality pet food:

  • the hassles of cooking and preparing food is gone. The working class of pet owners are leading busier lives these days compared to ten years ago.
  • the nutrient contents in a dry or wet formula is still present, though how accurately is left to be analyzed, since they differ accordingly.
  • you will have peace of mind, knowing that your dog/cat is well-fed with a balanced diet.
  • lifestage feeding regime ensures optimal nutritional intake at every lifestage eg. puppy, adult and senior.
  • highly digestible thus leaving small stool volume to clean.

The advantages of feeding a preventive health food to your cat

Pets need balanced diets that are nutritious and provide all the important vitamins and minerals for their health. The advantages of feeding a superior quality premium food such as Hill's Science Diets are indeed an added bonus for your beloved pets because they will stay healthy for life. This is a preventive health food specially prepared for cats and dogs with 25 vitamins and minerals. We all know that too much of any nutrient is bad for your pet and too little of any nutrient is indeed a bigger loss.

Many pet owners have tried these diets and find that within four weeks there is a big difference in the hair coat of their dog or cat. The results and findings are indeed astonishing and pet owners have never been happier and their pet looking more fantastic than ever!

While we look after their food intake do remember to fill up the water bowl next to it. Water for our pets is the single most important nutrient necessary to sustain normal cell function. Animals can survive without food but not water, just as us humans. Please remember to provide clean fresh water as often as possible because in a humid weather as ours the temperatures and heat can easily escalate.

In fact, some pet food companies only provide the adult formulas for cats and dogs and forget about the growth stage of puppies or senior stage in the older dog. These are the crucial years of a pet's life, therefore, it is good to ask for a pet food that will help puppies achieve optimum health, as well as look after their needs throughout their entire lifetime.

Foods That Should Be Avoided For Pets As Proven By Veterinarian Nutritionists Are As Follows

  1. Table scraps - is not nutritionally balanced with important vitamins and minerals greatly needed by your pet.
  2. Raw meat - may contain toxoplasma tissue cysts. It may also upset the calcium-phosphorus ratio in a commercial pet food that is being given to your pet.
  3. Raw fish - will cause thiamine deficiency.
  4. Raw liver - however contains too much vitamin A.
  5. Chocolate - will restrict the flow of blood and may cause a heart attack in pets.
  6. Bones - are the worst as they can lodge in the pet's throat or pierce the stomach or intestinal wall.
  7. Canned tuna - will cause vitamin E deficiency.
  8. Milk - may also cause diarrhea in adult pets. Many vets believe that high quantities of fat, mineral and sugar is bad if continued for a long time.
  9. Raw egg whites - contains a protein that interacts with biotin-making it unavailable to the pets. Insufficient biotin will lead to scaly skin and dried secretions will form repeatedly around the eyes, nose and mouth.

Take care of you pet always and he'll be there to look out for you.
